Tragic Loss in Calgary: Teenager Killed in Forest Lawn Stabbing
Shocking Incident in Southeast Calgary
A devastating incident unfolded in Calgary's southeast community of Forest Lawn last Thursday evening. Around 7 p.m., police responded to the 1300 block of 41st Street SE after receiving reports of an altercation involving a weapon. When officers arrived, they discovered a teenager suffering from apparent stab wounds. The young victim was rushed to the hospital in life-threatening condition, but tragically, he did not survive.
Identifying the Victim
Earlier this week, friends confirmed that the victim was a 16-year-old boy from Calgary. The Calgary Police Service (CPS) later officially identified him but withheld further details pending an autopsy. In the meantime, a 17-year-old boy has been charged with first-degree murder.
A Community in Mourning
The news has sent shockwaves through the community, and the impact of this loss is deeply felt by those who knew the victim. CPS Homicide Unit Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson expressed his condolences, acknowledging the profound effect such a tragedy has on the community. "This tragic incident didn’t need to happen. My condolences go out to the victim’s family," he said in a statement. "The impact of an incident like this has a ripple effect through the community. I sympathize with family and friends who have been shaken by this tragic loss."
Remembering the Victim
Alyssa Meloche, a 16-year-old friend of the victim, spoke to Global News about the profound loss. She shared that the victim had lived with her family for a period when he needed a place to stay. "He was such a good person. He was so sweet. He did not deserve this," Meloche said. "He was always by my side when I was at my lowest. I was by his side when he was at his lowest. We had each other’s backs. We were so close. He’s only 16."
The Crime Scene
On the night of the incident, Meloche and her boyfriend, Arlo Quinn, 18, arrived at the scene just minutes after the stabbing occurred. Struggling to process the trauma, Meloche shared her grief, noting the difficulty of dealing with finals during such an emotional time. "I don’t know how to process this. We were here 15 minutes after he was killed. Finals are coming up, and I have to grieve during finals," she said.
Quinn, who described the victim as his best friend, also expressed his sorrow and frustration. "Me, at 18 years old, I’m not in the best position right now, and I was watching him make a lot of choices that I made as a kid at his age, and I was there trying to redirect his course," he said. "I love the kid ... and he didn’t deserve this. I want justice served."

The investigation into this tragic event is ongoing, and several police officers were present at the scene on Thursday evening. The area was cordoned off with police tape as officers conducted their investigation.
